August 18, 2009: Nova Scotia
Bound!
Ipperwash in Southern Ontario has
been our home for more than a decade, and the cool breeze off of
Lake Huron and the rumble of her surf has been the background to
our lives and music. However, much as we've loved Southern
Ontario, Nova Scotia, with her vibrant cultural life,
breathtaking hills, forests and valleys, and awe-inspiring
seascapes has been luring us for years, and in 2009 we could
resist no longer!
Our new home is just outside of
Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, amid the orchards and wineries of
the lush
Annapolis Valley, and just ten minutes from the highest
tides in the world on the Bay of Fundy. Of course we will
continue to ship our harps worldwide, and we'll continue to have
a presence at the harp conventions in Eastern North America.
At the moment our new hill-top home
lacks a workshop, so in August and September of this year I'll
be busily constructing a new (and larger) building in which to
craft our harps. Hopefully harps will be starting their
ownjourneys from our shop to their new owners in October.
This move is a grand adventure for
our family, and we are inexpressibly excited.
For anyone who is interested, I'll be creating a blog to tell
the story in all its arcane detail, from the Ordeal of the
Weighty Piano, to the discovery of the secret swimming spot on
Gillis Lake. The blog is going to be posted at
http://timothyharps.wordpress.com/.
Really sorry about
the delay on our blog, everyone. It's much harder to
schedule time to chronicle an adventure from the middle of it
than it looked at the outset. However, I will endeavour to
start posting pictures and stories soon :)

We are thrilled to announce that
author Diane E Dunn, whose children's book "Adventures of a Harp
Mouse" captured the imaginations of children across America has
released a prequel to the beloved story, and it's set in our
very own harp shop!

"Follow the mouse as she scampers
into a warm cosy cabin and discovers a harpmaker's workshop.
When she hears the beautiful music of the harp, she wants to go
with the harp wherever it travels. Join the Harp Mouse as
she begins her adventure!"
This delightful
story is accompanied by lush illustrations from the pen of Donna
Pellegata. It's just the thing to tuck under the tree for
little harpists (and big ones!) this Christmas!
